First of a series. The author digs into Soviet archives in an effort to present a detailed, multi-volume, month-by-month history of the VVS on the Russian Front. This blends daily air ops with OBs, victories (as verified from the records of both combatants), manufacturing and production, evacuation of aircraft factories, and other data.

Author Juan Fraile reports that he is making excellent progress on his new series of books about the Soviet air force during WWII, with the first volume of 500+ pages "almost finished." We've seen a sneak preview. It looks like a brilliant project, which—if it comes to fruition—will far and away represent the best and most detailed account of the air war on the Russian Front ever published in English.
